The mission of the VHA is to provide timely, effective care to all veterans, whatever their circumstance. The VHA has been serving veterans for 75 years. Recently, they launched their new VMET pilot program that pairs a police officer with a clinical social worker to reconnect with veterans in crisis and help them get the care they deserve.
When Monte Daugharty returned from his deployment he struggled with his experiences and turned to the VA. There, he found camaraderie, connection and a future. After getting back on his feet, he stayed with the VA to help battle veteran homelessness during the COVID-19 pandemic.
